Luxury fashion house Chanel SA debuted its first men’s watch, the Monsieur de Chanel at Baselworld 2016. The Monsieur de Chanel has a manual-winding mechanical movement called the Calibre 1, a double complication consisting of 170 components.
The Monsieur de Chanel has a 40mm case which enjoys a matte, brushed and glossy black ADLC (amorphous diamond-like carbon) finish with power reserve of three days. The big unique differentiator of Chanel’s newest timepiece is the jumping hour with a hour display at 6 o’clock and a retrograde minute. Both feature took over five years to develop by a team (specifically hired by Chanel) of eight watchmaking specialists in movement construction and assembly.
The watch adds to it’s beauty with a transparent case back showcasing the hypnotising circular inner workings of the timepiece.
The Monsieur de Chanel will be released in a total of 300 examples: 150 in beige gold and 150 in white gold.
Price: Beige gold is $US36,000 and white gold edition is $US34,500. Available from June onwards.
